Frequently Asked Questions

What is the current EPF interest rate in 2026?
The Central Board of Trustees (CBT), EPFO has approved an interest rate of 8.25% per annum. Interest is calculated on the monthly running balance and officially credited at the close of every financial year on March 31.
Can I withdraw my EPF balance before retirement?
Yes. Non-refundable partial withdrawals (advances) are permitted for specific life events: purchasing or constructing a house (after 5 years), medical emergencies, higher education or marriage of children (after 7 years), and continuous unemployment for more than 1 month (75% withdrawal).
Is EPF withdrawal taxable if I leave my job?
If you withdraw your EPF balance after completing 5 continuous years of service, the entire withdrawal is 100% tax-free. If withdrawn before completing 5 years, employer contribution and interest become taxable in the year of receipt, and TDS is deducted.
